Education & Training

LIUNA members have access to the best continuing education program in North America. And it's free. LIUNA training includes more than 50 different courses, opening the doors to new opportunity and advancement. Classes are available in every state in the U.S. and every province in Canada and provide valuable learning in skills such as hazardous materials remediation, remote tunneling, concrete work and an array of building construction skills. Training helps employers compete with higher productivity and quality, and helps workers earn more and work more safely.

How You Can Access Training Opportunities

Current lists for all available training classes are posted on the bulletin board in the Local Union foyer at 410 South Main Street, providence, RI 02903. Please be aware the registration for ALL training classes must be done through the Local Union Hall. Please call 401-331-9682.

The classes will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Class participants should be dressed in work boots and work clothes. Sneakers and shorts are NOT allowed. The first day of each new class will begin with a mandatory orientation, which will begin at 7:15AM.


Training Courses

Take a look at all the courses available to you, some have changed and we have added some new ones. For courses that require licensing, New England Laborers' Training Academy (NELTA) also offers testing and certification on site.  You can enroll in a course by contacting your local union. Contractors are also encouraged to look to us for specialized training. NELTA is proud to offer you the very best training available anywhere.  Your membership is your key to unlock the door to a better future for yourself and your family.
